If you live in the city of Philadelphia and are a fan of Halloween then you are in the right place.
According to the personal-finance website WallettHub, Philadelphia is one of the best cities to celebrate the holiday known as Halloween. After looking at a number of key metrics including number of candy and chocolate stores per capita, average cost of a Halloween party ticket and the weather forecast for Halloween, it was determined that Philadelphia ranked as the 16th best city in the United States to celebrate the holiday.
The top-5 cities for the spooky holiday are Laredo, Texas (5), Newark, New Jersey (4), Jersey City, New Jersey (3), New York, New York (2) and Santa Ana, California (1).
In total, it is estimated that spending for Halloween this year will reach over $8 billion. That is up more than $1.5 billion just from last year. Candy alone will generate $547.9 million in sales.
While it appears that parents will spend their fair share of money on candy this year, don’t think that they won’t benefit from their own purchases, or the purchases of their fellow parents. According to WalletHub, 72 percent of parents have admitted that they will steal candy from their child’s trick-or-treat bag.
