Could Keith Urban make a return to American Idol?
American Idol is in the process of being revived by ABC and on familiar face seems to be open for a return. In an interview with CMT, country superstar and former Idol judge Keith Urban revealed a return to the show was possible.
“There are a lot of moving parts,” Urban said. “That’s a good political answer isn’t it? But it’s also quite true of the state of it right now. There’s a lot of moving parts in everybody’s camps. We’ll see what happens.”
Urban joined American Idol in 2012 for the show’s 11th season. That year, he served as judge alongside fellow artists Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj. After the season, both Carey and Minaj parted ways with the show and were replace by Jennifer Lopez (who previously served as a judge on seasons 9 and 10) and Harry Connick Jr.
The trio of Connick Jr., Lopez and Urban would serve together on the panel of judges through American Idol‘s 15th and final season.
American Idol is scheduled to return on ABC for the 2017-18 television season. Pop superstar Katy Perry has already agreed to join the show as one of its judges.
