Forbes annual list of “30 Under 30“ is out, and country music is VERY well represented.
The list is the 30 must successful, influential, or otherwise significant individuals under 30 years old in 20 different industries. Forbes writes, “This list continues to spotlight the impressive, the inspiring and the (genuinely) enviable.” This year, we’re in complete agreement with their ranking, because country artists Maren Morris and Thomas Rhett are both included among the elite!
Maren Morris, only 27, was chosen due to her 2015 major label debut, which hit the top of Billboard‘s country albums chart and made it to No. 5 on the all-genre Billboard 200 list. Country fans have been singing her praises for years, and now it looks like society at large is beginning to recognize her contribution to the genre and the quality of her music.
Thomas Rhett, ALSO 27, made the list because of Life Changes, his third album and the ONLY country album to debut at the top of the Billboard 200, which happened this past September. His impressive ability to pull in revenue was also noted, with a figure being thrown around of $250,000 earned each night on the road. THAT’S some serious income!
The Forbes list includes such categories as “Finance”, “Healthcare”, “Food & Drink”, and, of course, “Music”, which is, in OUR opinion, the most important. It’s so nice to see the talent in the country industry getting the recognition they deserve, especially on such a big forum as Forbes!
