The prodigal daughter is returning home.
Taylor Swift has country roots, as everyone knows. It’s her foundation, how she got her start, what launched her to fame. Sure, she might have deviated into pop for a few years, but true fans always held on to the hope that she would remember her humble beginnings and get back into country music.
Well, ladies and gentlemen, it seems that time is now.
How did it start? Well, if you didn’t know, Taylor recently wrote “Better Man” for Little Big Town, which actually won her the CMA Award for “Song of the Year.”
The true evidence of her return to country, however, was first reported by The Tennessean. The hot news is that her label, Big Machine Label Group, has serviced her single “New Years Day” to country stations nationwide. It’s a track off the newly-released “Reputation”, and she also performed it last week on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”
Taylor was ALSO spotted in a Nashville Target, making her ritual pilgrimage to purchase her own album, along with a horde of friends and backup dancers. Here’s hoping she plans to spend a lot of time in the Heart of Country, because country radio has missed her over the last few years. Keep an ear out for “New Year’s Day”, and check out her performance on The Tonight Show below!
