Luke Bryan is busily preparing for 2018’s American Idol, set to premiere March 11 at 8 p.m. on ABC.  And, while America holds its collective breath and waits eagerly for the sheer amount of talent for which we’re all in store, the show has been teaching Luke more than he ever thought possible.

He admits that the scheduling of American Idol has indeed put on a strain on his family life, but don’t think things are doing downhill for the country superstar and his wife, Caroline!  In fact, she’s the solid foundation under Luke’s flights of fancy, as he has admitted that he tends to go into ventures a bit naively, but always eager for the learning process.  He stresses communication as the key to keeping their relationship healthy.

And as for his new gig?  How does he enjoy judging so far?

“The big question was, ‘Am I going to enjoy it and love it? And here in the early stages, I’m having a blast with it,’ he bubbled to Taste of Country. “I’m loving every second of it.”

In addition to loving the process, however, Bryan feels it is literally improving him…as an artist, as a husband, and as a citizen.  In his role, he meets people of different faiths, races, nationalities, and abilities…and has come to see and appreciate them all for what they bring as individuals.

“It makes me understand it’s a big ol’ world out there,” he commented. “I think it makes me a better artist, makes me smarter as a person, it makes me understand society better — all walks of life.”

It’s sometimes hard to put ourselves in someone else’s shoes when we have no idea what the experience of walking in those shoes is like.  Luckily, it seems American Idol is giving Luke the opportunity to learn, to grow, and to understand more about this country he holds so dear to his heart.

Here’s a huge helping of respect for Luke for opening up his mind and his heart to people who may share different backgrounds and beliefs than those to which he is accustomed.  Music can teach us ALL something, if we’re prepared to listen, and with role models like Luke Bryan leading the way, it seems like it’s ALREADY a good thing that American Idol is set to return!
