Devin Dawson might be a California native, but this country boy has some down-home roots. He first came to fame covering a Taylor Swift song in 2014, and hasn’t stopped his ascension to the ranks of top country artists yet.
He credits Johnny Cash and Alan Jackson as major influences, as well as…wait for it…Marvin Gaye?!?! His debut single “All on Me”, however, will bring to mind modern day songwriters like Gavin DeGraw, rather than those classics which shaped Devin’s style. His full-length album, “Dark Horse” is due to drop on 1/19/2018, and comes on the heels of big openings for Maren Morris and Tim McGraw and Faith Hill.
He sat down with us here in the X Lounge to discuss songwriting, play us some tunes, and pose with our very own Shelly Easton and Andie Summers.
Check out his performance below!
