It’s the lyrics which drive Jacob Davis’ songwriting, and it’s the stories his music tells that define him as an artist. Like so many acts, Jacob’s public story begins with his move to Nashville; and like to so many artists, his musical education took place so much earlier, with the music surrounding him as he grew and his family influencing everything at a fundamental level.
It probably will not come as a surprise that his mother played the piano, and some of his first performances were at church. But it might be a bit more shocking to learn that it wasn’t until college that Jacob began solo performances and trying his hand at songwriting. Just to surprise you a bit more, he actually attempted to use his environmental science degree for a year working for an oil company before he decided to risk it all with a move to Nashville.
Since then, he has been working hard, opening for Lady Antebellum, Hunter Hayes, Sam Hunt, Billy Currington, and Kelsea Ballerini, among others. His single, “What I Wanna Be”…check it out below!…sounds natural, comfortable, and effortless, exactly what you’d expect a gifted songwriter to create. Jacob Davis is most certainly a name you’ll be hearing for quite some time, and it’s pretty likely you’ll be blown away by his vocals just like we were when he stopped by the X Lounge last year.
