I don’t know what hits me in the feels harder…watching men sing, watching men get emotional over children, watching children with special needs making connections, or watching children idolizing their fathers.
And there’s a video going around that just happens to contain ALL OF THE ABOVE.
And, if that wasn’t ALREADY COMPLETELY ENOUGH, just throw in a great country song as the icing on the cake.
Let’s set the stage.
The dad in this video is attempting to sing to his deaf son. Attempting, however, because he’s on the verge of tears the whole time, from happiness, from the responsibility of fatherhood, from the music, from love.
He’s trying to sing Lee Brice’s “Boy”, and the meaning of the song is not lost upon him. He is doing pretty well keeping himself from crying until, around the one minute thirty second mark, the baby looks up at him and smiles.
Now, I know that doesn’t sound like much. But if you have children, or nieces and nephews or students or young friends, you’ve probably seen that look of unconditional trust and overwhelming love with which babies gaze at their parents. And this baby LOVES his father.
That’s pretty much when he loses it completely.
Watch the video below, and just try not to feel something. Just try.
