Here's what's happening in country music this week!

May 11, 2018

Here we are again, another Friday, and just like last week, there's a lot to talk about!

We've narrowed it down to the top five for this week's Friday Top, without further ado, here is what's going on with your favorite artists!

5.)  Dolly Parton Dedicates Senior Center in Hometown with a Sense of Humor

Dolly Parton returned to East Tennessee on Monday to dedicate the new My People Senior Activity Center in honor of her parents, Robert and Avie Lee Parton.  She toured the center, even leading an exercise class, and joined the other residents in activities and crafts.  The cetner even gave her a membership card so she could enjoy the amentities in the future...because, as MIND-BLOWING as it might seem, Dolly Parton is technically a senior citizen.  She mentioned during the ceremony running into an ex-boyfriend, who commented that she looked like a milliohn bucks.  Her response?  "Well, thank you. That’s just about how much it’s cost to make me look like this."  I think we can all agree that, lately, Dolly is looking like a lot more than that!!!

4.  Jason Aldean and Wife Brittany Set Out to Tour in Style...Baby-Style, That Is!

Jason Aldean is no stranger to the tour life, and significant other Brittany has been along for that ride more than once, too.  But Thursday marked the beginning of a brand new type of journey...being on tour with baby son, Memphis.  The two revealed that they are full steam ahead, with a crib being built on the tour bus and baby-proofing already in effect around the vehicle.  We are already jealous of everything baby Memphis is going to experience, growing up behind the scenes at the biggest country shows known to man.  Jason Aldean agrees, saying, "He’s going to be out there and grow up around it nonstop. It’s going to be interesting to see what kind of musical skills he develops over the years."

Here it goes... tour life 2018! Ohhh how it’s changed----------

3.  Brantley Gilbert Gets Real In Inteview About Recovering from Addiction...and How Keith Urban Helped Get Him There

Brantley Gilbert has been sober for seven years.  That's seven years of fighting, of working, of relearning, of actively striving towards health.  He opened up in an interview with People on Wednesday about his fight with alcohol and opiates, and the path he took to where he is now, a husband and father, a succesful artist, a happy human being.  He took his last drink on December 18th, 2011...after an intense night of soul-searching and realizing the downward spiral upon whch he was descending, he entered rehab and spent Christmas of that year detoxing.  What was it that gave him the boost he needed to stick with recovery?  It was fellow artist and addict in recovery, Keith Urban, who told him, "Hey man, it’s gonna be scary, it’s gonna freak you out, but it’s gonna be beautiful."  Since then, with numerous hits under his belt, his marriage to hometown girlfriend Amber, and the birth of his child, Barrett, Brantley can is better than it's ever been.

2.  Chris Stapleton and Justin Timberlake, Together Again

After 2015's joint performance of "Tennessee Whiskey", it was Chris Stapleton's turn to surprise Justin Timberlake.  And suprise him he did, joining him onstage Wednesday night at the Man of the Woods Tour when it stopped in Nashville.  Justin, naturally, couldn't let the moment slip by, so they engaged in a rendition of "Say Something", from his "Man of the Woods" album.  The pair share not one, but TWO CMT Music Award nominations for "Say Something" and collaborative video of the year.  You can check out the collaboration below!

1.  Carrie Underwood Is Really, Really Pretty When She Cries

The video is out, friends, and SHE. IS. GORGEOUS.  Carrie Underwood has delivered with her new video, "Cry Pretty", and it speaks volumes about her as an artist.  As you probably know, she had a freak accient over the winter where she tripped on a stair and fell, breaking her wrist and requiring 40-50 stitches to her face, of all places.  This video marks her return to the spotlight, though she did perform the song first at the ACMs, to the receipt of a standing ovation and the world's awe.  Now fully recovered, she looks amazing, sounds amazing, and conveys a world of emotion throughout the scenes.  Check it out below!
